Leaving New Orleans today. It’s a great place but 2 days are enough for me. I’m going to St. Louis by way of Chicago. Seems Chicago is the hub. I have a roomette to Chicago, a 6 hour layover then a coach ride to St. Louis. It will be 28F and snowing in Chicago when I get there tomorrow morning. I think I’ll stay in the station and wait for the next train.
It’s a nice train ride north. Train 58, City of New Orleans. I’m watching the temperature drop every couple of miles. We stopped in Jackson MS, for a stretch break. I walked the length of the train and back. The next stretch break is in Memphis.
Lunch was ok, but then I just left New Orleans. Enough said.
One thing I’ve noticed is how time has slowed down. I don’t mean in a bad way and that I’m bored. I seem to be present in the moment. Whether I’m watching sharks at the aquarium in Atlanta, strolling the streets of New Orleans or watching the miles go by sitting on the train, I’m more aware. Maybe that’s the key to slowing down time?
Heading into Memphis in 10 minutes. Time to stretch and then get my bed made up for sleeping. It’s been another good day.
